Elizabeth Anderson Responds:

Thanks for your question! A number of different conditions can cause a red spot on the skin. Broken blood vessels, or telangectasias, are very common on the nose. They may result from sun damage, aging, or medical conditions such as rosacea. Your case is somewhat concerning however, given the history of bleeding. Basal cell carcinomas my also have prominent blood vessels and tend to bleed with minor trauma. I recommend having it examined by a dermatologist.
