Committed to Ix, or Information Therapy
"An educated patient is a better patient."
Patients Were Once "Passive Receipients" of Care
In the old model of healthcare, patients would receive care without understanding what was happening. The patient did not understand the diagnosis, why a test was being taken, or why a particular treatment was recommended. The patient was a "passive recipient" of care.
Today, Patients are "Active Participants" in Their Care
Today things are different. We encourage our patients to be actively involved in their own healthcare by understanding as much as possible about their symptoms, their diagnoses, why we've recommended a test, and why we've recommended a particular treatment option.
When Information Can Be as Therapeutic as Medicine
We have Rx, or prescription medications, to help you feel better. We have Dx, or diagnoses, to help you know what's wrong. We have Tx, or treatments, to help you overcome your illness. In today's heathcare world we also have Ix, or Information Therapy.
Information Therapy means that by educating you about your symptoms, condition, tests, medications, and treatment options, we can empower you with the knowledge to make healthcare decisions of your own. With a deeper understanding of your healthcare situation, you are more easily able to make the healthcare decision that is best for you.
Plus, by knowing why you're taking the medication you're taking or receiving the test you're receiving you're more likely to do a better job of following our recommendations, allowing us to provide a better overall healthcare experience.
We wanted to make it as easy as possible to learn more about your healthcare decision. That's why we've prepared a fully-stocked, physician-approved, always-up-to-date Patient Education Library specially for our patients.
