I am experiencing hair loss. Is there anything that can be done to treat this?

Elizabeth Anderson Responds:

Hair loss is actually very common in women. There are many causes of hairloss, including androgenetic hair loss("male-pattern baldness"), which is often seen in women as well as men, systemic medical conditions such as thryroid disease, hair loss associated with medications, and skin conditions. I recommend a thorough history and examination with a dermatologist because no two patients are alike. If there is no underlying medical condition we typically use a product like minoxidil.
