Is there anything to do for stretch marks?

I have a really bad stretch mark on the inside of my arm. Is there anything we can do to fix this?

Elizabeth Anderson Responds:

Thanks for your question! Stretch marks (striae atrophicans)are actually seen in both men and women. In general stretch marks improve with time (2-3 years). If they don't improve on their own, a Retina-A cream can be beneficial and is a good conservative first line of therapy. If that doesn't work laser therapy can also be beneficial. Some lasers treat the vascular component and can decrease redness. Studies with other lasers are showing promise in older, white stretch marks. We'd be happy to take a look!
