Elizabeth Anderson Responds:

Skin cancer is becoming increasingly common in the United States. If you have a worrisome lesion I would strongly encourage you to come in to the office for an examination. Most types can be treated when caught early. However, left untreated skin cancer can cause serious health problems or even death. Many patients have told me that they delayed coming in because they were too scared or nervous. Most of the time all we need to do is take a look or do an easy biopsy in the office, so don't let your concerns prevent you from coming in!
