Meet Dr. Anderson
Elizabeth Anderson, MD attended The University of Tennessee College of Medicine on scholarship and graduated in 1999 as valedictorian. She then completed her dermatology residency at the Vanderbilt University College of Medicine, where she served as chief resident. Following her residency she pursued additional training by fulfilling a dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Dr. Anderson is one of very few dermatologists in East Tennessee to hold dual board certification, a distinction that demonstrates her extensive training and expertise. Prior to moving to Knoxville, Dr. Anderson was an Associate Professor of Dermatology at The Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, where she trained young dermatologists and pursued her academic research. Before opening her current practice, Dr. Anderson was in clinical practice in Knoxville for two years.
Dr. Anderson is an expert in comprehensive medical, pediatric, and surgical dermatology as well as cosmetic dermatology and dermatopathology. Her specific medical interests include skin cancer, psoriasis, and eczema. She has performed thousands of cutaneous surgery procedures. Dr. Anderson’s additional training and board certification in dermatopathology provides her expertise in interpreting skin biopsies, which allows her to better diagnose and treat her patients.
Dr. Anderson also has a strong interest in cosmetic dermatology, where she combines her artistic background and medical expertise to improve her patients’ appearance and self-confidence.
Dr. Anderson and her husband, a retina surgeon, both grew up in Tennessee where their families still live. They are parents of a baby son. While she is not at work she enjoys being a mother, painting, gourmet cooking, and fly-fishing.
